On February 1st, a video titled “Is Se Kyung Really That Scary?” was uploaded to Jung Jae Hyung’s YouTube channel Fairy Jae Hyung. Shin Se Kyung appeared as a guest and spoke candidly about her pre-debut years and school life.
Shin Se Kyung first entered the public eye at the age of eight after appearing as a poster model for Seo Taiji’s “Take Five.” Reflecting on that time, she shared, “I was honestly too young to fully understand what was going on. There were moments when I was supposed to cry, but the tears wouldn’t come, so it was difficult.”
She went on to explain that there was a significant gap before she officially debuted as an actress. “Even though I kept auditioning, things didn’t work out easily. I tried to work as a child actress, but many opportunities fell through regardless of my intentions,” she said. Looking back, however, she described that period as a blessing. “Because of that, I was able to fully enjoy my school years and build precious memories.”
During the conversation, Jung Jae Hyung remarked, “I heard you were known as the ‘Mokdong Goddess.’ Not only were you beautiful, but you were also ranked seventh in your entire school.” Shin Se Kyung quickly corrected him with a laugh, saying, “No, I was eighth.” She added that her middle school was located in a highly competitive school district, which pushed her to study especially hard.
She also expressed gratitude for having lived like any other student her age, saying, “Being able to attend school without working and spend time like my peers was such a blessing. Those memories are incredibly precious to me.”
As she spoke, photos from Shin Se Kyung’s school days were revealed, capturing attention with her pure, lovely visuals. Her youthful appearance—unchanged from her present-day look—impressed viewers and reinforced praise for her natural beauty, further dispelling past speculation surrounding cosmetic procedures.
