On June 16, Shin Min Ah sat down for an interview in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, to discuss her new suspense thriller The Eyes, directed by Yeom Ji Ho.
The actress takes on a challenging dual role in the film, portraying twin sisters Seo Jin and Seo In. Seo Jin is a photographer gradually losing her eyesight due to a hereditary disease, while Seo In is her twin sister whose mysterious death sets the story’s central investigation in motion.
Reflecting on the film’s upcoming release, Shin Min Ah admitted she felt both nervous and excited. “It’s been a long time since I had a movie release, so I was very nervous and curious about how audiences would react. After yesterday’s premiere, many people watched the film in advance, and it seems they enjoyed it. The atmosphere was very celebratory, which made me happy.”
She also confessed that after watching the film repeatedly during production, it became difficult for her to evaluate it objectively. “I’ve seen this project so many times before the premiere that I lost my objectivity. As an actress, I notice things I wish I had done differently, so it’s hard for me to focus on the film purely as a viewer.”
One of the most talked-about moments from the VIP premiere was Kim Woo Bin’s appearance in support of his wife. The actor drew attention after attending the event and later sharing photos and videos of Shin Min Ah on his personal social media account. Fans particularly loved seeing him photograph his wife during the event, showcasing the couple’s affectionate relationship.
Shin Min Ah revealed that while she did ask him to attend the premiere, she never pressured him to post anything online. “Actually, The Eyes was filmed before our marriage, so I didn’t necessarily think of it as my first project after getting married. Kim Woo Bin came to the premiere yesterday. It felt a little awkward, but I was very grateful and reassured by his presence.” She continued: “I did ask him to come to the premiere and told him I wanted him there. Even though he’s busy filming his next project, he made time to attend because of my request.”
However, she laughed while addressing the social media posts that attracted widespread attention. “The photos and videos of me that he uploaded to his personal account were not something I strongly requested or forced him to do.”
According to Shin Min Ah, Kim Woo Bin also offered encouraging feedback after watching the film. “He told me he enjoyed it. He knows how hard I worked and how much I worried about this project. He said, ‘I don’t think you need to worry,’ which was very comforting.” After sharing his support, Kim Woo Bin reportedly returned straight to filming his own project. Shin Min Ah added with a smile: “I’ve been busy lately too, so it had actually been a while since I last saw him.”
