Shin Ji-min, a former member of girl group AOA, expressed her feelings about making a comeback.
The press conference for JTBC’s new entertainment program “The Second World” was held online on August 30th with the participation of CP Kim Hyung-joong, Paul Kim, Yubin, Shin Ji-min, Moonbyul, Mimi, Exy, JooE, Moon Sua, Kim Seon-yu, Kim Bum-soo, Jung Yeop, Jung Eun-ji, Seo Eun-kwang, and Kim Min-seok.
At the event, Shin Ji-min shared, “My feelings about returning (to the entertainment industry)… I’m still very cautious. I wonder if I work hard to get closer to you, will you accept and like me again?”
She continued, “The reason I decided to return through a survival program is that although I began my career as a rapper, I was a vocalist when I first started making music. I used to have a dream of becoming a rock star. While making my comeback after resting, I just wanted to sing and this program suddenly appeared at the right time. It came to me like an opportunity.”
Shin Ji-min debuted as a member of AOA in 2012 and left the group in July 2020. She has performed on various stages, including Mnet’s survival contests “Unpretty Rapstar” and “Queendom”, and released self-composed songs, such as “Hallelujah” and “Hey”, as her solo projects.
“The Second World” is a survival program in which rappers from Korea’s famous girl groups with good vocal and rap skills join a fierce competition. Announcing the cast consisting of Wonder Girls Yubin, AOA’s former member Shin Ji-min, MAMAMOO Moonbyul, Oh My Girl Mimi, WJSN Exy, MOMOLAND JooE, Billlie Moon Sua, and CLASS:y Kim Seon-yu, the show heralds an amazing vocal battle between rappers.
“The Second World” will air its first episode at 8:50 p.m on August 30th.
