Actress Shim Eun Woo apologized for her school violence controversy last year and expressed her feelings about returning
On the afternoon of November 17th, a press conference for the movie “Seire” was held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and directors Seo Hyun Woo along with cast members Ryu Abel, Shim Eun Woo, and Park Kang attended.
On this day, Shim Eun Woo discussed her returning after a school violence controversy and said, “It’s been a long time since I last greeted you, but first of all, all of us, actors and staff, thought of only one project and filmed it hard. As that work was released, I grew more and more happy that I have the opportunity to be seen by people.”
The actress also added, “You have sent me a lot of interest and love, and I have been thinking about how to repay you. I also want to express my gratitude to the team that worked with me.”
She then emphasized, “In the future, I will prove myself as a better person, a better actress, and deliver better performance. And I will work hard to show a good image.”
Meanwhile, in March of last year, an article claiming that Shim Eun Woo was a bully was posted on an online community. According to the original writer, she suffered from school violence under the hands of Shim Eun Woo during middle school.
Initially, the agency of Shim Eun Woo claimed that the actress had been a model student who never committed misconduct, and that she remembered one of her friends having fought with the writer of the post. However, after meeting the alleged victim in person, Shim Eun Woo posted an apology on Instagram.
In particular, the actress started her apology by saying, “I am writing this letter to express my apology to a friend who was hurt by my immature attitude in the past”.
“I realized that the words and actions I thoughtlessly directed at someone when I was young could remain with that person for a long time as wounds, and I spent time deeply reflecting on the life I have lived up until now and my present-day self. I would like to at least sincerely apologize to that classmate now,” she added.
Since then, Shim Eun Woo has appeared on the red carpet event for the opening ceremony of the 26th Busan International Film Festival, which was held at the Busan U-dong Film Center in October 2021.
