“Sexual offense again during sexual crimes trials” Ex-B.A.P Himchan’s first sentencing trial to be held today (Feb 1st)

The Seoul Western District Court’s Criminal Agreement Division 12 (Presiding Judge Kwon Sung-soo) will hold the sentencing trial on Feb 1st at 10 AM for Himchan’s violations of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Assault Crimes (using a camera to film and using communication media for lewd acts).

In the plea hearing held on Jan 16th, the prosecution sought a seven-year prison term for Himchan. They also requested the court for public disclosure of personal information, a 10-year ban on employment in child, adolescent and disabled-related institutions, attachment of a location-tracking device for 3 years, and a 4-year supervision order.

Himchan is accused of sexually assaulting a victim in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul and illegally filming the act in May 2022. He is also charged with forcibly molesting 2 women on a staircase outside a bar in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul in April of the same year.

This incident occurred while Himchan was already on trial for his first sexual crime, further intensifying the controversy.

Previously, Himchan was accused of sexually harassing a woman in her 20s who accompanied him at a pension in Joan-myeon, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do in July 2018. During the trial of this case, he was additionally charged with second and third sexual offense accusations.

After receiving a 10-month prison sentence for the first sexual offense charge, which ended on Dec 8th last year, Himchan was detained again for additional charges of sexual assault and has been undergoing trial since.
