From BTS to EXO… Scheduled events got canceled/postponed after Itaewon Halloween stampede

The music industry also participated in the commemoration of the Itaewon disaster that took place on Oct 29th. Each agency expressed condolences to the victims by canceling or postponing scheduled events.

SM Entertainment announced on Oct 30th, the day after the disaster, “We have decided to temporarily postpone the release date of EXO Chen‘s third mini-album ‘Last Scene’, which was scheduled for Oct 31st. We heard the news about the Itaewon disaster that occurred on Oct 29th. The decision was made with condolences to the victims. We ask for the understanding of fans who are waiting for the album.”

According to the agency Black Made, Yong Jun-hyung also delayed his return after 3 years. Yong Jun-hyung, who withdrew from boy group Highlight in 2019 due to controversy over singer Jung Joon-young’s illegal videos, postponed the release of his mini-album “LONER”.

Taewon Entertainment’s first girl group Irris, boy group Drippin and girl group ICHILLIN’ also decided to temporarily postpone the release of their new albums.

The agency KM Entertainment said, “We would like to inform you that the release date of ICHILLIN”s 3rd Digital Single ‘Draw (MY TIME)’, which was scheduled to be released on Nov 3rd, has been temporarily postponed. We ask for your generous understanding, and we will inform you through a notice as soon as the schedule is confirmed.”

In addition, trot concerts such as Jang Yoon-jung’s Jinju (Gyeongnam) concert, Hong Jin-young’s Lotte Premium Outlets Icheon (Gyeonggi) mini concert and Young Tak’s Andong (Gyeongbuk) concert were canceled one after another.

Boy group ATEEZ had a time to express condolences to the Itaewon disaster just before the concert of their world tour “THE FELLOWSHIP: BREAK THE WALL”.

Girl group Dreamcatcher held their concert on Oct 30th as scheduled, but excluded “Halloween” from the name of the concert.

SM Entertainment immediately canceled the Halloween party of their artists.

SM Entertainment announced through the fan community KWANGYA CLUB, “‘SMTOWN WONDERLAND 2022’ live event, which was scheduled to be broadcast free through the global platform Beyond LIVE, has been canceled. As the event itself has been canceled, there will also be no red carpet live broadcast. We would like to ask for your understanding.”

BTS‘ agency HYBE also postponed the “HYBE Briefing with the community”, which was planned to be held online on Nov 4th.

Kim Jae-joong‘s concert “J-JUN LIVE TOUR 2022 ~Fallinbow!”, which was scheduled to be held at the Aichi Sky Expo in Nagoya, Japan on Oct 30th, was also canceled after the Itaewon disaster. Kim Jae-joong’s agency C-JeS Entertainment said, “We decided to cancel the Nagoya concert at Kim Jae-joong’s request two hours before the concert.”
