‘SBS Gayo Daejeon’ gained mixed opinions for taking place outdoors amidst the cold wave, negatively affecting the attendants at the event
“2022 SBS Gayo Daejeon” was criticized for hosting an outdoor red carpet in a cold wave of nearly minus 10 degrees Celsius.
The “2022 SBS Gayo Daejeon” was held live at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the afternoon of the 24th. Prior to the main performance, outdoor red carpet and photo wall events were held for about an hour, and numerous cast members, including 3 MCs, Key, Cha Eun-woo, and Ahn Yu-jin, stood in front of the reporters and took photos.
On the red carpet and photo wall of the “2022 SBS Gayo Daejeon,” girl groups such as (G)I-DLE, aespa, IVE, NMIXX, LE SSERAFIM, and NewJeans showed their individual uniqueness in various sizes, shapes and styles in the of all-white outfits that lived the Christmas spirit.
However, what bugged viewers was the location of the red carpet. At the time, the outdoor weather experienced a cold spell of nearly minus 10 degrees Celsius. Yet, multiple girl groups only wore thin dresses without wearing outerwear in front of the reporters.
While boy groups appeared warmer in suits than the girl groups, the outfits did not seem to be warm enough against the waves of cold wind.
Some of the members were caught stamping their feet or trembling on camera due to the cold weather, which resulted in netizens pointing out the problems with an outdoor event in this weather. Some were concerned that an excessive outdoor photo wall event could cause the attendants to be out of shape.
It was clear that the weather was brutal not only for the cast, but also for the many fans who visited the scene, as well as the photographers and video reporters holding cameras to cover the event.
In addition, broadcaster Yoo Jae-pil, who was in charge of hosting the red carpet for the “2022 SBS Gayo Daejeon,” also showed his presence in suits. He drew support through his personal channel, saying, “It was a little cold because it was outdoors for an hour and a half.”
“SBS Gayo Daejeon” has been held several times at Gocheok Dome and has established itself as a Christmas music festival.
