SBS Changed “Best Couple Award” Judging Criteria In Last Minute, Is It Because Song Kang Cannot Come?

SBS held a vote for the 2023 SBS Acting Awards’ “Best Couple Award” on its official website from 9 a.m. on December 18th to 1 p.m. on December 27th.

This year, the nominees include “Romantic Guest house” Ryowoon ♥ Shin Ye-eun, “Dr. Romantic 3” Ahn Hyo-seop ♥ Lee Sung-kyung, and “My Demon” Song Kang ♥ Kim Yoo-jung. Since there are only three teams, they will only give the “Best Couple” trophy to one couple rather than a joint win like the previous years.

As a result, fans were enthusiastic about voting for the couple they supported, and finally, the vote ended as the “My Demon” Song Kang ♥ Kim Yoo-jung couple, which is currently on air, reached the top with an overwhelming margin of votes.

However, SBS announced the closing of best couple voting and ant the same time updated new criteria that had never been revealed before.

“In addition to the results of the website vote, the Best Couple will be announced based on the votes of each drama crew, in-house votes of SBS and Studio S employees, ratings and popularity.”

It means that there are various screening criteria as well as viewer voting, if so, SBS should have announced the notice at the start of the voting. In fact, from fans’ point of view, it can only be interpreted that the broadcast station will give an award as it wants regardless of the viewers’ vote.

In addition, fans speculate that the new criteria was made in order not to award Song Kang ♥ Kim Yoo-jung. Kim Yoo-jung will attend the awards ceremony as an MC, but Song Kang will be absent due to collapsing schedules.
