Sakaguchi Kentaro, once celebrated as Japan’s “national treasure” and the face of integrity, is now facing one of the biggest crises of his career following explosive allegations of infidelity. The actor, renowned for his stoic yet captivating “salt-face” charm and polished acting, has seen his carefully built reputation collapse almost overnight.
Born in 1991 in Tokyo, Sakaguchi Kentaro had no artistic background before stepping into the entertainment industry. His career began in 2010 as a model for Men’s Non-no, where his 183cm frame, sharp features, and cold charisma quickly made him a favorite. He modeled for the magazine for seven years before shifting to acting.
His breakout came in Heroine Shikkaku (2015), where his portrayal of the aloof yet magnetic Rita propelled him into stardom. His “shio-men” (salt-face) expression became his trademark, captivating female audiences. From there, Kentaro starred in acclaimed projects like Tokyo Tarareba Musume, Signal, and A Silent Voice. But in September 2025, that image was shattered. On September 9, Japanese tabloid Shukan Bunshun announced they would expose Kentaro’s affair, and the next day revealed shocking details: despite living with his girlfriend, a hairstylist three years his senior, Sakaguchi was allegedly involved in a secret relationship with actress Nagano Mei. The two had worked together on Kamen Byoto (2019) and shared brand ties as Prada ambassadors. Reports claimed Kentaro pursued Mei during a Prada event, leading to a covert romance.
The revelation stunned fans across Asia.
