Ryu Jun-yeol Joined Golf Contest Despite Controversy Over His Qualifications As Greenpeace Ambassador

On April 10th (local time), Ryu Jun-yeol appeared at the Masters Par 3 Contest as a caddie.

The Par 3 Contest is held at the Par 3 Golf Course that precedes the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. It’s a contest in which participants invite family members to caddie for them.

On April 10th, Ryu Jun-yeol’s agency CJeS Studio said to XportsNews, “Ryu Jun-yeol will participate in the Masters Par 3 with his close friend Kim Joo-hyung”. The actor is known to be a golf lover and he became friends with Kim Joo-hyung because they have the same religion.

Looking nervous, Ryu Jun-yeol still completed the Par 3 Contest with Kim Joo-hyung with a big smile. After finishing the schedule, Kim Joo-hyun also expressed his affection for Ryu Jun-yeol, saying “It was so great to make good memories with my big brother♥”.

Kim Joo-hyung released photos and videos. In particular, Ryu Jun-yeol and Kim Joo-hyung wrapped their arms around each other’s shoulders. The actor also flew the ball with a skillful pose and smiled brightly at the audience.

However, Ryu Jun-yeol kept avoiding reporters’ questions that day. When asked about his feelings about being a caddie, the actor replied, “I want to keep the words for myself in this situation”, adding “You can contact my agency and I’ll answer in writing”.

Netizens began to criticize the actor for enjoying golf despite being a promotional ambassador for the international environmental organization Greenpeace.

Regarding Ryu Jun-yeol’s controversy, Greenpeace released their stance, saying “Promotional activities of an ambassador involve volunteer work based on their own goodwill. We are reviewing inquiries from sponsors regarding this matter”, adding “We will take this as an opportunity to review and discuss regulations related to our ambassador”

Despite the noisy scandals surrounding him, Ryu Jun-yeol still showed up in public to participate in the Par 3 Contest. This once again caused a heated debate among netizens.
