Rosé of BLACKPINK has achieved another career milestone, winning Song of the Year at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) for her hit collaboration with Bruno Mars, APT.

The ceremony took place on September 8 (KST) at the UBS Arena in New York, where Rosé’s name dominated the night with multiple nominations. Out of her impressive eight categories, APT took home the prestigious Song of the Year award—considered the “grand prize” of the VMAs.

Following the win, Bruno Mars congratulated his collaborator on social media. On his official X (formerly Twitter) account, he shared a photo of Rosé holding her VMA trophy, writing: “Big Bad Rosie! ♥ (She’s incredible)”. The post quickly went viral, delighting fans worldwide.

In addition to Song of the Year, Rosé was nominated for:

  • Video of the Year (APT)
  • Best Collaboration (APT)
  • Best Pop (APT)
  • Best Direction (APT)
  • Best Art Direction (APT)
  • Best Visual Effects (APT)
  • Best K-Pop (toxic till the end, title track from her first solo album Rosie)

On top of her solo achievements, [BLACKPINK also won Best Group, making Rosé a double VMA winner that night.]

Released in October 2024, APT drew inspiration from the viral Korean “apartment game” and instantly captivated global listeners with its playful concept and upbeat energy. [The track peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has spent an astonishing 45 consecutive weeks on the chart], setting the record for the longest-charting song by a K-pop soloist.

Rosé’s cultural impact extends far beyond music. In April, she was named in TIME magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World under the “Pioneers” category, solidifying her status as a global icon.

With her MTV VMA victory and ongoing chart success, Rosé continues to carve her legacy as one of the most powerful solo voices to emerge from K-pop.
