The UK edition of fashion magazine ELLE has issued a formal apology following public backlash for allegedly racially discriminating against BLACKPINK’s Rosé at Paris Fashion Week.

On October 2 (local time), ELLE UK addressed the issue on its official channels, stating:

“We sincerely apologize for the recent post from Paris Fashion Week, where Rosé was cropped out of a group photo due to size formatting issues. We had no intention to cause offense. The post has been removed, and we remain committed to creating content that fully represents our diverse readership.”

The controversy stems from Rosé’s appearance at Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2026 womenswear show on September 29 in Paris. Attending as a global ambassador for the brand, Rosé sat front row alongside Western celebrities such as Charli XCX, Hailey Bieber, and Zoë Kravitz.

However, ELLE UK sparked outrage when it posted group photos from the event—where Rosé was either cropped out entirely or blacked out. The photos quickly went viral, igniting accusations of racial bias against the Korean star.

Adding fuel to the fire, a widely circulated clip from the event showed Charli XCX turning her body away from Rosé and engaging in an exclusive conversation with Hailey and Zoë, leaving Rosé visibly isolated. In the footage, Rosé can be seen looking at the group before quietly glancing down, highlighting the awkwardness of the moment.

As the backlash intensified, Charli XCX attempted to mitigate the situation by sharing additional photos that included Rosé.
