Red Velvet’s Joy faces unexpected mic malfunction during concert performance

Red Velvet’s Joy expressed her sadness over a sudden situation that occurred during the concert.

On the afternoon of the 2nd, Red Velvet (Wendy, Irene, Seulgi, Joy, Yeri) held their ‘Red Velvet 4th Concert: R to V’ at KSPO DOME in Seoul’s Songpa-gu Olympic Park. This concert comes 3 years and 5 months after their third solo concert, ‘La Rouge’, which was held in November 2019.

Red Velvet filled the concert with stages that embody both the lively ‘Red’ concept and the mesmerizing ‘Velvet’ concept, fitting the concert title ‘R to V’. Although the first performance started with the ‘Red’ concept and transitioned into the ‘Velvet’ concept, the last performance was rearranged to connect the ‘Velvet’ and ‘Red’ concepts.

However, Joy’s headset microphone appeared to come loose and she had to hold it in place while performing, causing concern among fans.

After briefly leaving the stage for adjustment, Joy returned to the stage and opened up about the issue, saying, “I guess I don’t like the headset (microphone) today.” She admitted that she was feeling anxious and that her mind was not at ease during the performance. Then, she declared, “Today, I will be boldly using a handheld microphone,” and received cheers from fans. Joy danced and sang powerfully with the handheld microphone, then returned to using the headset microphone for the ‘Queendom’ stage.

After the Seoul performance, Red Velvet is scheduled to hold a total of 13 performances in 10 cities, including Singapore, Yokohama, Manila, Bangkok, Jakarta, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, and London.
