Reasons Why The Award Ceremony Of Yoo Jae-seok’s YouTube Show Is Said To Be Better Than Any Big Awards Show
Pingyego’s award ceremony exceeded 2.3 million views on YouTube after a day of broadcast
Pinggyego Awards has Yoo Jae-seok as the MC, big stars as guests, celebrating performances and most importantly it’s fair. The ceremony was broadcast live on YouTube on December 17 with more than 100,000 people watching, realizing its popularity.
Producer Na Young-seok, production team of “You Quiz On The Block” and pop culture critic Kang Myung-seok were selected as judges for the event. Pinggyego announced, “The winners were decided through fair and transparent procedures with a professional judging panel.” Immediately after the ceremony, the judges’ scorecards were all disclosed on the channel community.
All the cast members and guests of the show during the year 2923 became nominees. The awards were given as follows
▶ Popular Star Award-Lee Dong-wook, Jo Se-ho, Nam Chang-hee
▶ Best Rookie Award-Yoo Yeon-seok
▶ Excellence Award-Hong Jin-kyung
▶ Best Award-Ji Seok-jin, Jo Se-ho
▶ Daesang-Lee Dong-wook
In particular, the Daesang categories gathered about 110,000 votes from viewers, and Lee Dong-wook received an overwhelming votes of more than 70,000. Lastly, the Achievement Award went to the viewers.
The awards ceremony even featured congratulatory performances with SHINee Key’s “Ring Ding Dong,” Lee Dong-hwi’s “Gimme! Gimme!” and Davichi’s “8282.” The celebrities who attended got up from their seats and danced together. Hong Jin-kyung came out to the center of the stage and became as a guest dancer, making the surroundings laugh. The ceremony was held in a party atmosphere and even delivered gifts through lucky draw box lottery.
No unfair awards were given. The winners were decided by professional judges and votes from netizens, and there was no attendance award, which big awards shows are usually criticized for. In fact, Yoo Yeon-seok was absent due to his schedule, but he proudly won the Rookie of the Year award.
In addition, there was no unnecessary awards. Only the necessary categories were created and awarded, and the only co-award winners were Ji Seok-jin and Jo Se-ho as they got the same score. Oh Na-ra, Song Ji-hyo, Lee Mi-joo, Lee Jin-ah and Yang Se-hyung did not receive any award, but they generously applauded to the winners while enjoying the ceremony.
On the other hand, the terrestrial entertainment awards exhaust the viewers with excessive number of trophies every year. The Best Teamwork Award, Best Icon, and Best Challenge Award will be newly established to distribute to the guests. At the 2021 SBS Entertainment Awards, Ji Seok-jin, who was a candidate for the Daesang, was given the “Employee Award.”
At the same time, it is common for big awards shows to be held for more than four hours, often past midnight. Of course, there is a reason. Many award ceremonies include various categories, including numerous entertainment programs and radio programs, but sometimes the ceremonies are filled with improvised celebratory stages aimed only at making headlines, jokes by performers, and remarks of the nominees.
On the other hand, Pinggyego Awards was very small compared to terrestrial stations’ awards show, but it was a well-equipped one, and thus received great love.
