Reason Jung Joon-young Does Not Wear Electronic Ankle Bracelet After Being Released From Prison

Following Jung Joon-young’s prison release, some people wonder why he doesn’t wear electronic ankle bracelet for monitoring

At 5:05 a.m. on March 19th, Jung Joon-young was released from Mokpo Prison in Jeonnam after serving a five-year imprisonment sentence. He left the prison with his face covered by a black mask and a hat.

Earlier, Jung Joon-young was accused of intoxicating and sexually assaulting women in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do, with former F.T. Island member Choi Jong-hoon in January 2016 as well as in Daegu in March of the same year. He was also charged with the distribution of illegal sex videos and photos in group chat rooms 11 times starting from 2015. In September 2020, the court finally sentenced Jung Joon-young to 5 years in prison.

However, the court rejected the prosecution’s request for probation. Jung Joon-young did not receive any order to publicize information either. He completed an 80-hour sexual violence treatment program and was subject to 5-year restrictions at the institutions related to young people and kids as well as welfare facilities for disabled people.

The criteria for probation of sex offenders and personal information disclosure vary depending on the discretion of the case or judge. During the trial, if a sex offender consistently shows a repentant attitude or proves that there is no possibility of reoffending, the judge will make a decision according to that.

As a result, Jung Joon-young was released from prison after completing a 5-year sentence for sex crimes. He doesn’t have to wear an electronic ankle bracelet and his personal information is not disclosed either.

After Jung Joon-young’s release, many people are curious about his activities. He’s unlikely to be seen on TV since all domestic broadcasting stations already banned him. However, there are no restrictions on overseas activities and appearances in online content.
