“Radio Star” Kwang Hee, “‘The Glory’ casting, I didn’t know anything… I filmed without knowing the exact details of the script”

Broadcaster Kwang Hee revealed the behind-the-scenes story of his appearance in Netflix’s drama “The Glory”.

Looking at Kwang Hee’s face, Kim Gu Ra commented, “Your mouth looks unnatural”. In response, Kwang Hee said, “How did you notice that? You’re like a ghost. I recently got botox and fillers, but I put in too much. That’s why the parts around my mouth don’t move”.

When asked, “I haven’t seen you on TV lately. How have you been?”, Kwang Hee replied, “Many people around also asked why I didn’t appear on TV. I was actually very busy in 2022. I didn’t come out on public TV channels. I mostly carried out activities on cable channels and Youtube”.

Regarding the reason he joined “Radio Star” despite his busy schedule, Kwang Hee shared, “No matter how well I’m doing on Youtube, it can’t be compared to public TV. I appeared on ‘Radio Star’ before and said that I wouldn’t get any advertisements because there were not many articles about my appearance. I’m so sorry. I came for the influence of ‘Radio Star’”, drawing laughter.

Kim Gu Ra asked, “Are you saying that you earn money, but you feel empty?”, Kwang Hee responded, “That’s right. I received various casting calls but couldn’t grab the opportunities. Some programs ended after I appeared once or twice.”

Kwang Hee is well-known as a “paper guy” in the entertainment industry due to his physique. He even confessed to wearing “shoulder pad” as a must to hide his skinny body in the past. He said, “At that time, I was so sick that I had to receive manual therapy, but my condition couldn’t be cured even after a year of treatment.” Later, when analyzing his past videos, Kwang Hee said that he couldn’t stretch his shoulders because he used too much shoulder pad. “My shoulders were crushed by the pads,” he confessed.

How much does Kwang Hee actually weigh? Kwang Hee said, “I am 173cm tall and 53kg. I have gained weight from 51kg,” he said proudly.

Meanwhile, Kwang Hee recently made a surprise appearance in the popular Netflix drama “The Glory”. When asked about that, Kwang Hee said, “My role was a radio DJ, and people around me keep asking me how I got to appear in the series. I thought it was thanks to writer Kim Eun Hee as we met during ‘Infinite Challenge’, but it turned out to be decided by writer Kim Eun Sook. I don’t understand the casting either,” he said frankly.

Usually, scripts sent to me have stories of before and after my specific scenes, but only the script for my specific scene (in ‘The Glory’) was sent to me. I filmed without knowing the context, and I was flooded with messages after the series was released. It was a more important scene than I thought. At that time, I should have done better and added more ad-libs. What a bummer,” he said.
