“Queen of Tears” wedding held at the place where “couple of the century” Hyun Bin & Son Ye-jin was born

This is thanks to the unique romance story of a three-year married couple played by Hallyu stars Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won as they overcome the crisis of divorce.

In the drama, they respectively took on the roles of the son of farmers from Yongdu-ri and a third-generation chaebol heiress, breaking through public attention and concerns to marry. Although they are now too busy fighting whenever they face each other, just 3 years ago, they shook Korea by holding a splendid and grand wedding ceremony like characters from a fairy tale.

The scene of their love-declaring “wedding of the century” was actually filmed at the place where many prominent figures from politics and business as well as celebrities had their weddings. The background was the Aston House at Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Gwangjang-dong, Seoul, famous for its luxurious outdoor wedding venue, covering an area of 1421m² (430 pyeong), making it ideal for maintaining security.

The real-life “couple of the century”, actors Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, also held their wedding here in March 2022. Like the wedding of Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won’s characters in the drama, the vast lawn was decorated entirely with flowers, creating a fantastic atmosphere that excited fans both domestically and internationally. It was estimated that the total cost of the wedding, including a venue fee of 15 million won and flower decorations worth 25 million won, exceeded 100 million won, sparking discussions.

In the drama, Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won exchanged wedding rings under an arch-shaped sculpture decorated with flowers in a composition similar to Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin’s wedding photos. As soon as this scene aired, viewers speculated that Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin’s wedding might have been the inspiration for the drama, leading to explosive reactions among viewers.
