‘Queen of Tears’ Claims 3rd Place in tvN’s All-Time Ratings, Surpassing ‘Reply 1988’
'Queen of Tears' becomes 3rd highest-rating drama of tvN
According to Nielsen Korea (based on paid households), the broadcast of episode 10 of tvN’s weekend drama ‘Queen of Tears‘ (written by Park Ji-eun, directed by Jang Young-woo, Kim Hee-won) achieved a new milestone in ratings. It recorded an average nationwide rating of 19.0% and surpassed the 20% mark in the metropolitan area, reaching 20.9%.
This not only exceeded the slight decline in ratings from the previous day’s episode 9, which recorded 15.6% nationwide and 17.2% in the metropolitan area but also set a new all-time high record. Previously, ‘Queen of Tears’ had reached the 8th spot in tvN’s historical ratings with a rating of 16.1% in episode 8. However, with a significant increase in episode 10, it surpassed ‘Shut Up’ (16.9%), ‘Scandal in Old Seoul’ (17.0%), ‘Queen Cheolin’ (17.4%), ‘Mr. Sunshine’ (18.1%), and ‘Reply 1988’ (18.8%), rising to the 3rd spot in tvN’s historical drama ratings. Now, ‘Queen of Tears’ is only behind ‘Goblin’ (20.5%) and ‘Crash Landing on You’ (21.7%) in terms of dramas that have surpassed the 20% mark.
‘Queen of Tears’ depicts the thrilling crisis and miraculous rekindling of love between Hong Hae-in (played by Kim Ji-won), the third-generation heiress of the Queens Group conglomerate, and Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo-hyun), the son of a local grocery store owner, in their third year of marriage. Kim Ji-won is currently shining in the leading role, while Kim Soo-hyun, reunited with screenwriter Park Ji-eun whom he collaborated with in ‘My Love from the Star’ and ‘Producer,’ is receiving love as the immortal romantic lead.
In episode 10, Baek Hyun-woo falls into a trap set by Yoon Eun-sung (played by Park Sung-hoon) and receives a transfer order, while Hong Hae-in captivates viewers by utilizing threats to her advantage.
As the counterattack and love between the divorced couple gradually deepen, attention is drawn to whether the drama’s ratings can surpass 20% nationwide. Episode 11 will be broadcasted on the 13th at 9:20 PM.
