Jung Chae-yeon, an actress and former member of the girl groups I.O.I and DIA, is celebrating her 10th year in the entertainment industry this year.
Jung Chae-yeon debuted in 2015 with DIA but left the group temporarily due to lack of significant success. In 2016, she participated in Mnet’s girl group audition program “Produce 101”, where her innocent looks and charming personality won over fans, ultimately earning her a spot in the final line up.
Before debuting with I.O.I, she proved her star potential by receiving 13 advertising offers, which is exceptional for a newcomer. Remarkably, she declined all the offers to focus on the competition.
After debuting with I.O.I, she began her acting career by appearing in tvN’s “Drinking Solo”. Jung Chae-yeon had dreamed of becoming an actress since childhood, but she first debuted as an idol after discovering a passion for dancing and singing at her agency’s suggestion.
She made her terrestrial debut as a lead in KBS2’s “To. Jenny” (2018) and has since showcased her stable acting skills in Netflix’s “My First First Love”, KBS2’s “The King’s Affection”, and MBC’s “The Golden Spoon”.
Jung Chae-yeon mentioned, “I blush when I receive attention from people. Even during drama shoots, if attention shifts towards me, I change the atmosphere.”
Despite being in the industry for ten years, she surprised everyone by revealing that she took Cheongsimhwan (a traditional herbal medicine that helps support blood pressure stabilization and reduce stress) before appearing on a variety show.
Reflecting on her time as an idol, she stated that she was able to change her timid self who was afraid of standing in front of people. Recently, while filming the new JTBC drama “Family by Choice” she showcased her vibrant side by visiting an amusement park with co-stars Hwang In-yeop and Bae Hyun-sung, with whom she has spent a year working closely.
Jung Chae-yeon expressed, “I feel like I have just started about 20 percent of my journey as an actress,” and fans eagerly anticipate her diverse performances ahead.
