Psy’s “Gangnam Style” Becomes First K-pop MV To Hit 5 Billion Views On YouTube

According to P Nation on December 30th, “Gangnam Style” music video uploaded on Psy’s official YouTube channel surpassed 5,000,250,000 views as of 1 p.m. on December 30th. This is the first K-pop music video to hit 5 billion views on this video platform.

“Gangnam Style” is the title track of Psy’s 6th full album “Psy 6 (Six Rules), Part 1” released in July 2012. This mega-hit song helped Psy become the first K-pop singer to rank second place on Billboard’s main chart “HOT100” for seven weeks.

Being the first YouTube content to surpass 1 billion views and 2 billion views, “Gangnam Style” music video changed the way views or counted. In addition, the number of its views has continued its unusual upward trend for 11 years.

In addition to “Gangnam Style”, Psy is also maintaining his overwhelming influence on YouTube with many impressive view records, such as 1.5 billion views for “Gentleman”, 820 million views for “Oppa Is Just My Style”, 360 million views for “Hangover”, 700 million views for “DADDY”, 290 million views for “New Face”, and 130 million views for “I LUV IT”.
