On the morning of September 18, an open talk for Project Y was held at the outdoor stage of the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae as part of the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). The event was attended by cast members Han So-hee, Jeon Jong-seo, Kim Sung-cheol, Jung Young-joo, Lee Jae-kyoon, YooA, and director Lee Hwan.
Explaining his casting decision, Lee said, “While writing the script, I thought of actors who could convincingly embody Misun and Dokyung in a way that audiences would understand and believe. That’s when Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo came to mind.”
He added, “I gave them the script around that time, and they enjoyed it. When I asked them to work together, I felt they were perfect not only because they’re widely recognized as icons but also because placing such icons in gritty, raw realities allows audiences to experience a strong sense of conflict. I think that contrast worked really well, and I’m very pleased with it.”

Project Y tells the story of Misun and Dokyung, who have nothing but each other. In an attempt to escape their harsh reality, they steal hidden black money and gold bars, setting off a chain of dangerous events.
The 30th Busan International Film Festival will continue until September 26, with screenings and events held across the Busan Cinema Center.
