This autumn, some of Korea’s most beloved actresses are set to make powerful comebacks across drama and film. Kakao Entertainment confirmed on September 18 that its star lineup, including Kim Go-eun, Suzy, and Han Hyo-joo, will be returning with projects spanning heartwarming friendship stories, fantasy rom-coms, and classic romantic comedies.
Kim Go-eun, known for her ability to transform into diverse characters such as the eldest daughter of a struggling family and a charismatic shaman, stars in You and Everything Else. The drama tells a lifelong story of friendship marked by meetings and farewells. Since its release on September 12, it has entered the “Top 10 in Korea Today” and charted in 14 countries. Later this year, Kim will return again in The Price of Confession, portraying a mysterious figure nicknamed “The Witch,” further cementing her reputation for versatility.

Suzy will bring her charm back on October 3 with Netflix’s fantasy rom-com Genie, Make a Wish. She plays Ka-young, a peculiar human who encounters a lamp genie awakened after a thousand years. The unique worldbuilding and Suzy’s transformation into a chic yet eccentric character have already generated buzz, especially as still cuts highlighting her glamorous visuals trend online. In addition to her drama, Suzy will also star in the upcoming film 7 O’Clock Breakfast Meeting for the Heartbroken.

Han Hyo-joo is also set for a major return on October 16 with Netflix’s series Romantics Anonymous, co-starring Oguri Shun. Adapted from a French film, the drama follows two wounded souls who connect through their shared love of chocolate. Han plays Ha-na, a brilliant chocolatier struggling with social anxiety. As part of Netflix’s global collaboration projects, the series has been invited to the “On Screen” section of this year’s Busan International Film Festival.

Meanwhile, fans are already looking ahead to 2026 for the highly anticipated returns of IU and Park Bo-young. IU, who recently impressed by playing dual roles in When Life Gives You Tangerines, is set to star in MBC’s The 21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife, playing a wealthy yet status-constrained heiress opposite a royal prince. Park Bo-young, after moving audiences with her dual performance in tvN’s Our Unwritten Seoul, will next star in Disney+’s Gold Land, a gritty tale about greed, betrayal, and smuggling tied to stolen gold bars.

With Kim Go-eun, Suzy, Han Hyo-joo, IU, and Park Bo-young all returning with projects this year and next, fans are calling this lineup the “comeback of queens.” Their performances are expected to dominate both streaming charts and TV ratings in the months ahead.
