Who is Changbin? 

Changbin. whose full name is Seo Changbin, was born on August 11, 1999. He is a member of famous K-pop boy group Stray Kids, and serves as the main rapper and producer of the group.

Changbin’s Basic Information

Changbin was born in South Korea, and is currently enrolled at Gukje Cyber University under the Department of Entertainment Studies. 

In late 2016, Changbin assumed the stage name SPEARB and formed the hip-hop crew 3RACHA with fellow JYP trainees Han Jisung (J.One”) and Seo Changbin (“SPEARB”).

Changbin’s Career 

In 2017, Changbin was officially revealed by JYP Entertainment for his participation in the survival show “Stray Kids”. At the time, his roles included producing and rapping.

In 2018, Changbin debuted as a producer and rapper of Stray Kids. 

He has since released the self composed song “Streetlight” (ft. Bang Chan) as part of the SKZ-PLAYER series, the self-composed song “Cypher” as part of the SKZ-RECORD series, and participated in the writing and composition of his solo song “DOODLE”  in the album “SKZ-REPLAY”.

In 2023, Changbin released the self-composed song “Fly High” as part of a campaign for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5. In 2024, he introduced the remake song “8th grader (Respect your dreams)” with singer Kim Changwan for a Samsung Galaxy S24.

Changbin also featured in Yoon Jisung’s “You… Like the Wind”, Stray Kids’ I.N – “Maknae On Top”, and F.HERO x MILLI’s “Mirror Mirror” (2021). 

Due to his role as the producer, Changbin was named as a regular member of KOMCA – the Korean Music Copyright Association.

Additional facts about Changbin 

Changbin is known to have an older sister, and despite his “tough rapper” image, is unable to sleep without his Munchlax plushie, who he calls “Gyu”. 

Additionally, Changbin is not only known for his song-producing abilities but also for his rapping. He previously participated in Korea’s most famous rap show “Show Me The Money”, and is known to be one of the fastest rappers in the K-pop industry.

Issue

Despite his immense talents, Changbin often suffers from malicious comments from netizens for not fitting into the Korean beauty standard. He was once criticized for looking fat, despite having a perfectly fit and muscular body. 

In 2024, Changbin and fellow member Seungmin was photographed without consent at a skincare clinic, and was even mocked for his appearance. 

Fans of Changbin were extremely furious about the situation, urging JYP to take action against this blatant invasion of privacy and the post was eventually taken down.
