“Princess Hours” remake to start production and planning in 2024, 18 years after first drama

The remake of hit 2006 K-drama “Princess Hours” is finally becoming reality, according to entertainment officials.

Multiple entertainment officials recently hinted to JTBC Enter News, “The story of auditioning for the drama remake of ‘Princess Hours’ is being discussed among some actors. One of the actors who will participate in the audition is said to have begun preparing for acting and setting up visuals in earnest with the aim of appearing in ‘Princess Hours’ remake.”

Previously in 2021, there were talks that the drama “Princess Hours”, which is based on a comic of author Park So Hee, would be getting a remake. However, the production schedule could not be determined due to unfavorable factors such as the Corona pandemic. Nevertheless, now that news of the audition for “Princess Hours” has appeared, expectations for a full-scale production have been raised.

In this regard, an official from the production company GROUP8 said, “Currently, the remake of ‘Princess Hours’ is in the planning stage. There are many works in production, making it hard to produce within this year. Therefore, production is likely to start early next year at the earliest. However, variables still exist in the meantime.”

If production begins early next year, the “Princess Hours” remake is expected to be available in the middle or second half of 2024.

“Princess Hours” is a work that takes place in a fiction Korea, where there is still an constitutional monarchy. Here, based on an old promise, the male lead – a crown prince, and the female protagonist – an ordinary high school student, were arranged to get married. The 2006 drama, which featured Joo Ji Hoon and Yoon Eun Hye, received a lot of love with viewership ratings peaking at 27.1%. Since then,”Princess Hours” has also been adapted into novels and musicals.
