Person who accused Jo Byeong Gyu of school violence refused police entry request

A former classmate who claimed to have been hit with an umbrella by Jo Byeong Gyu, refused a police entry request.

On June 27th, TV Report quoted a source from the entertainment industry and reported that one of the whistleblowers of the “Jo Byeong Gyu” case, who resides in New Zealand, refused the police’s entry request for investigation.

In particular, allegations of school violence against Jo Byeong Gyu first arose in 2018. At that time, Jo Byeong Gyu strongly denied the allegations and even posted a lengthy explanation himself.

The actor emphasized his innocence and stated, “There have been times when I received frequent attention and was perceived as a ‘playful friend’ due to my acting profession,” adding, “I thought it would create more controversy if I didn’t let it (the rumor) affect me and live without being swayed by others’ opinions.”

Then, in 2021, allegations of school violence were raised once again.

Back then, a person, who claimed to be a victim, wrote that Jo Byeong Gyu made inappropriate jokes about women and had conversations about marijuana with friends.

According to the whistleblower who refused the police entry request, during their study abroad in New Zealand, they had to buy food for Jo Byeong Gyu and pay for karaoke. Jo Byeong Gyu would also hit them with an umbrella on rainy days, they said.

In addition, several other whistleblowers came forward, but Jo Byeong Gyu denied all allegations and requested an investigation by the police.

In February of last year, Jo Byeong Gyu’s side announced that they received an apology letter from one of the whistleblowers, but the public’s suspicions did not fade away.

As a result, there are critical voices surrounding Jo Byeong Gyu, who is preparing for a comeback.

Meanwhile, Jo Byeong Gyu is set to return with the first episode of tvN’s “The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch”, which will premiere in July.
