The April 18 broadcast of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama Perfect Crown (Episode 4) recorded viewership ratings of 11.3% in the Seoul metropolitan area, 11.1% nationwide, and 5.3% among the 20–54 demographic, marking a new personal best. The drama ranked No.1 in its time slot across all categories. Notably, the 20–54 rating—considered a key indicator of channel competitiveness in today’s media landscape—also topped all Saturday programs. The peak minute rating soared to 13.8%, reflecting its rapid upward trend (Nielsen Korea).
In this episode, viewers were left on edge as Seong Hui Ju (IU) found herself in danger due to a car with failed brakes, only for Grand Prince Ian (Byeon Woo Seok) to appear at the critical moment.

The night before, Seong Hui Ju and Grand Prince Ian met secretly by a wall and, sensing paparazzi nearby, naturally acted as a couple. As planned, their picture-perfect kiss photo was released, prompting an emergency meeting within the royal family. Grand Prince Ian declared he would acknowledge their relationship and even raised the possibility of marriage, while Prime Minister Min Jeong Woo supported the decision to prevent further controversy.
As a result, Seong Hui Ju and Grand Prince Ian officially became a publicly acknowledged royal couple. However, Queen Dowager Yoon Yi Rang and her faction began seeking ways to separate the two before public interest grew even further, heightening tension.
At the same time, Seong Hui Ju realized that before opposition forces could act, she needed a decisive move to secure their marriage. To attract public attention, she visited a baseball stadium with Grand Prince Ian. Although they failed to wear matching couple uniforms, their appearance on the stadium’s kiss cam turned her plan into a major success.
As they created more memories together, Grand Prince Ian’s feelings for Seong Hui Ju gradually deepened. After their kiss, he became increasingly conscious of her every action. Despite growing anger under pressure from Yoon Yi Rang, he found himself calming down at her words, “I’m on your side,” hinting at the emotional changes within him.
Seong Hui Ju also began preparing for her role as the Grand Prince’s wife. Under the strict guidance of court lady Choi Jin Sook at Anhwadang, she steadily learned royal etiquette. She also formed new memories while spending time with King Yi Yun (Kim Eun Ho), engaging in various activities together.
Later, at the young king’s request, Seong Hui Ju went for a drive, only to suddenly realize that the car’s brakes had failed. Despite attempts by both her and Min Jeong Woo, who was following behind, the car continued speeding forward, leaving viewers in suspense.
At that very moment, another car blocked the path, bringing the runaway vehicle to a stop. Through her blurred vision, Seong Hui Ju saw Grand Prince Ian stepping out of the car, letting out a sigh of relief. With such a dangerous incident involving the king, curiosity is now rising about what consequences await Seong Hui Ju and the aftermath of this incident.
