On August 3, Thairath reported a violent attack on popular Thai singer Peck Palitchoke (also known as Pek Phalitchok) at a gas station in Bang Kapi District, Bangkok. The incident occurred around 1:30 AM and was swiftly reported to Huamark Police Station, prompting officers to rush to the scene.
When authorities arrived, they discovered the singer collapsed on the ground, bleeding heavily from a deep stab wound to the chin. Emergency first aid was administered before he was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.
Eyewitnesses at the scene claimed that Peck was suddenly attacked by a young man, later identified as Chutithep, 21 years old. With assistance from bystanders, police were able to apprehend the suspect and confiscated a 20-centimeter knife believed to be the weapon used in the attack.
At the police station, Chutithep confessed to stabbing the singer but claimed it was in self-defense. He denied knowing Peck personally and stated he had no prior conflicts with the celebrity.
According to Chutithep, he had driven to the gas station to pick up his girlfriend after work and stopped to refuel. While at the station, he noticed a commotion behind a pickup truck and attempted to intervene. He alleged that Peck suddenly punched him in the face, prompting him to use the knife to defend himself—unintentionally causing serious harm.
Police have initially charged the suspect with two offenses:
- Illegal possession of a deadly weapon in public
- Assault causing bodily harm
However, officials noted that if medical reports confirm severe injuries, Chutithep may face additional charges.
Colonel Norent Khuengsanuk, head of Hua Mak Police Station, stated that the investigation is ongoing. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the gas station and waiting for Peck Palitchoke to recover so they can take his formal statement.
Peck’s management company has since released an update on his condition. Doctors conducted surgery to clean and suture the wound. Thankfully, the injury did not damage critical nerves, and there is no facial paralysis, which had been a concern among fans. He remains hospitalized but stable, and fans have flooded social media with messages of support and prayers for a full recovery.
