Park Sung Hoon first rose to mainstream recognition through his chilling portrayal of Jeon Jae Joon in Netflix’s The Glory (2022). He then solidified his reputation with a strong performance as Yoon Eun Sung in tvN’s Queen of Tears and further cemented his global popularity by joining the cast of Netflix’s Squid Game Season 2.
However, his career faced turbulence last year when controversy forced him to step down from his next lead role in tvN’s Bon Appétit, Your Majesty. Originally cast as the male lead, Park came under fire in December 2024 after posting — and swiftly deleting — a group poster featuring Japanese adult film actors dressed in Squid Game 2 costumes. His agency, BH Entertainment, explained it was an accidental upload while checking direct messages and issued an apology, but public backlash persisted. Despite the casting shake-up, Bon Appétit, Your Majesty ended on a high note. Its finale, which aired on September 28, achieved a nationwide average rating of 17.1% and a peak of 19.4%, topping all channels in its time slot and marking a record high for the series.
