On the January 30 broadcast of SBS’s variety show My Grumpy Secretary, Park Shin Hye appeared as the 16th “My Star,” drawing attention not only for her presence but also for an unexpected health scare that unfolded on camera.
On this episode, cast members Kim Kwang Gyu and Lee Seo Jin accompanied Park Shin Hye for a photoshoot and her agency’s New Year gathering. Early in the day, Park Shin Hye revealed that she was not feeling well, explaining that she had caught a bad cold and was suffering from severe throat pain. Unable to visit a hospital due to her packed schedule, she asked the staff to buy her medicine from a pharmacy instead.

After changing outfits for the shoot, her condition visibly worsened. The actress hurriedly took the medication provided by the staff as her symptoms intensified, making it clear that she was struggling with more than just a mild cold. Park Shin Hye later admitted that she had been experiencing headaches and chills even before the shoot, adding, “Once the pain hit, I couldn’t manage my facial expressions at all. I realized it was serious.”
Despite feeling unwell, filming continued. Park Shin Hye did her best to keep the mood light on set, but once she returned to the waiting room, she was seen coughing and showing clear signs of fatigue and fever. Watching her struggle, Lee Seo Jin expressed concern, urging her to go to the hospital immediately instead of relying solely on medicine. “This is why you end up sick,” he said, clearly worried about her condition.

Park Shin Hye agreed that she likely needed medical attention after finishing the shoot, but her state appeared increasingly severe. She had difficulty keeping her eyes open and seemed to be enduring significant discomfort. She later confessed, “When I woke up in the morning, I thought it was just swollen tonsils. But suddenly my fever spiked so high that I could barely see in front of me.”
As her complexion worsened and she eventually collapsed during filming, the staff rushed into action. Kim Kwang Gyu and Lee Seo Jin quickly escorted her to a nearby hospital where she could receive treatment. Despite running a high fever, Park Shin Hye had pushed herself to complete her schedule until that point.

Thankfully, she was able to receive medical care in time and gradually began to recover. Reflecting on the situation, Park Shin Hye expressed her gratitude, saying, “I thought going to the hospital in the middle of filming would cause trouble for everyone. But I’m actually thankful they insisted. If I hadn’t gone, it could have turned into something much worse.”
The incident highlighted Park Shin Hye’s professionalism and dedication, while also underscoring the importance of prioritizing health—even for one of Korea’s most reliable and hardworking stars.
