At the press conference held on January 12 at The Link Hotel in Sindorim, Seoul, Park Shin Hye confessed, “It was definitely a burden to portray a 20-year-old. Since I debuted at a young age, a lot of viewers remember what I looked like when I was actually twenty. But time inevitably passes.”
Undercover Miss Hong is a retro office comedy set in the late 1990s. Park plays Hong Keumbo, a sharp, 30-something elite inspector who goes undercover at a securities firm by disguising herself as a 20-year-old entry-level employee to track suspicious financial activity.

Park revealed she put significant effort into transforming her appearance to fit the younger role. “To create a clear contrast, I focused a lot on hairstyles and outfits. Even if my face looks a bit mature, I tried to compensate with fashion and hair. Honestly, it was all about pretending I was just insisting I looked twenty,” she said, laughing.
She elaborated on the visual distinctions between her dual roles. “As Hong Keumbo, I wore sleek three-piece suits, straight hair, and a more polished, career-woman look. For Hong Jangmi, the younger version, I went for an H.O.T. ‘Candy’ vibe hip-hop pants, oversized shirts, curly bob hair with lots of clips. I really tried to highlight the contrast.”

Park also discussed how she approached the acting challenges: “There’s a big difference in tone between the two characters. I adjusted my voice and manner of speaking for each. Though the exterior may look like Hong Jangmi, viewers will see that it’s still Hong Keumbo at her core, working through the disguise.”
Undercover Miss Hong premieres on January 17 at 9:10 p.m. KST on tvN, and fans are eager to see how Park Shin Hye navigates her bold, comedic transformation across two dramatically different personas.
