Park Seo-joon Opens Up About Receiving Plastic Surgery Advice and Identity Struggles Pre-Debut

Park Seo-joon confessed to receiving advice for plastic surgery during the preparation for his debut

On the broadcast of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block‘ on December 13th, Park Seo-joon revealed that he had received advice for plastic surgery in the past.

Yoo Jae-suk asked, “Isn’t Park Seo-joon your real name?” to which Park Seo-joon replied, “Originally, it’s Yong-gyu.” Jo Se-ho asked, “Did you start using a stage name after debuting?” Park Seo-joon confessed, “Since I was young, I had many complexes about my face and was quite shy. I was even unable to order at a restaurant.”

Park Seo-joon further disclosed, “In high school, talking about my name and presenting made me uncomfortable. When thinking about my debut, I visited a naming service. Originally, it was difficult for me to even say my own name, so they suggested changing it to something more commonly used.”

Reflecting on the challenges during his debut preparation, Park Seo-joon shared, “In truth, my eyes were my biggest complex. I faced criticism when debuting, as it was tough for me. At that time, people preferred those with more distinct features than mine.”

Yoo Jae-suk said, “That’s too harsh,” and Park Seo-joon continued, “Receiving advice for plastic surgery made me wonder, ‘Did I make a mistake? Is this not my path?’ It was challenging to invest in an uncertain future and endure the difficulties. But as I persevered, good opportunities arose, and it seemed worthwhile.”
