Park Seo Joon and Park Bo Young Hint at Realistic Chemistry as a Couple in Disaster Film ‘Concrete Utopia’

Expectations are high for Park Seo Joon and Park Bo Young’s chemistry. 

First, on July 31st, at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Seoul, Park Seo Joon expressed his thoughts during the press conference for the movie “Concrete Utopia,” “It was refreshing to see this movie after two years, and I remembered the time of filming. I tried to see the relationship between Min Sung and Myung Hwa as a third party, and I felt bitter. I also had some regrets, wondering if I could have shown a prettier side.”

In “Concrete Utopia,” Park Seo Joon and Park Bo Young play Min Sung who tries to protect his family, and Myung Hwa, who doesn’t lose her beliefs. They are a couple. 

Park Bo Young shared her thoughts, “Those who wanted to see our lovey dovey moments may feel disappointed, but we want to show a realistic portrayal of a couple. If the opportunity arises, maybe in another project, we can show our lovey dovey chemistry again.”

Director Eom Tae Hwa explained, “In the movie, Min Sung creates an Instagram account. Before watching the film, if you check the Instagram, you can see the two characters’ lovey dovey moments before the disaster.“

“Concrete Utopia” is a disaster film that depicts the story of survivors gathering at the only remaining Hwanggung Apartment in Seoul after a major earthquake. It’s an adaptation of a popular webtoon by author Kim Sung Nyung, which received praise since its serialization in 2014. The film is set to be released on August 9th.
