Debates about Park Seo Joon and Ahn Bo Hyun’s attitude controversies continue despite both having provided explanations.
Previously on August 3rd, the entertainment industry became abuzz as BLACKPINK Jisoo and Ahn Bo Hyun confirmed their romantic relationship. Consequently, interest in Ahn Bo Hyun, who drew massive attention as Jisoo’s first public lover, increased, and his past controversies started to come under scrutiny.
In particular, a past video of Ahn Bo Hyun has been brought back into the spotlight, triggering discussions. In a making-of video for season 1 of the K-drama “Yumi’s Cells”, Ahn Bo Hyun can be seen standing next to a female staff member as she held the script for him. Netizens quickly reacted, questioning why the actor couldn’t hold the script himself and accusing him of poorly treating the staff.
However, according to media outlet OSEN on August 8th, the staff member who held the script is Ahn Bo Hyun’s longtime hairstylist. A representative from “Yumi’s Cells” also stated, “In the process of filming, such situations can arise. Especially when you are close with the staff as a team, they might help you directly, like an older brother or sister rather than a hierarchical relationship.”
Meanwhile, another source added, “There could have been situational reasons that compelled the female staff to hold the script (for Ahn Bo Hyun).”
In fact, other scenes in the making-of video shows Ahn Bo Hyun holding the script himself, and it is unjust to judge the actor’s character solely on one instance without context. Nevertheless, some criticism has been raised regarding his action, leading to misunderstandings.
On the other hand, Park Seo Joon, another actor born in the year 1988, is also grappling with a similar issue. In particular, Park Seo Joon recently faced an attitude controversy when he refused to wear a headband during the stage greeting of the movie “Concrete Utopia.”
At the time, a fan gave his co-star, actress Park Bo Young, a pair of couple headbands, and asked that she wore one and the other given to Park Seo Joon. However, Park Seo Joon did not accept the headband, and made a gesture signaling that he couldn’t do so due to his heavy hairspray.
As the controversy grew, Park Seo Joon personally addressed the issue. Through his official fan cafe, the actor explained, “I fixed my hair after putting it up and using a lot of hairspray. I did that so that my hair wouldn’t move at all, and it got so heavy and stiff as if I was wearing a lid. In that state, if I put something on my head, my scalp would hurt.”
Nevertheless, some remain unconvinced by Park Seo Joon’s explanation. They expressed reactions like, “Can’t he make a small gesture like wearing it for a moment?” or “Don’t other actors style their hair as well?”
Prior to this, Park Seo Joon faced another attitude controversy, after refusing to make a heart gesture when asked by the press. At the time, the actor clarified that the brand side had requested him not to make heart poses and that he was trying to follow that request.
Of course, striking a heart pose or wearing promotional headbands is a matter of personal choice. However, many have looked into these actions, and drew negative impressions on Park Seo Joon, especially when compared to the passionate stage greetings of senior actors Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung.
