While broadcaster Park Na-rae has stepped away from all activities following a series of explosive allegations, past comments made by colleagues about her drinking habits are once again in the spotlight.
Park Na-rae was recently accused of abusing her power by former managers, who claimed she subjected them to verbal abuse, forced drinking, unpaid expenses, late-night errands, and even medical proxy prescriptions. Additional allegations surfaced claiming she misused company funds for her ex-boyfriend and received illegal cosmetic procedures through so-called “auntie injectors.”

Among the accusations, the issue of alcohol drew particular attention. Park Na-rae has long been known as a heavy drinker, and the claims of coerced drinking by ex-managers reignited curiosity about what her industry peers had previously revealed.
Lee Hyo-ri & Hwasa
In a 2022 episode of TVING’s Seoul Check-In, Lee Hyo-ri and Hwasa openly shared their experiences with Park Na-rae’s drinking habits. After drinking and spending the night at Park Na-rae’s home during filming, Lee Hyo-ri recalled the next morning in a phone call with Hwasa, saying, “I was tired and wanted to sleep, but Na-rae kept knocking and asking me to open the door.”

Lee Hyo-ri continued jokingly, “I locked the door and slept. At one point, I wondered if I should hit her with a soju bottle to knock her out. Should I make her faint? I really thought about it for a second. You know I’ve been living kindly these days with yoga, but yesterday—just for a moment…” Park Na-rae burst into laughter during the exchange.
Hwasa also shared her encounters with Na-rae’s late-night drinking calls. “It’s not that I ignored her,” she said. “Sometimes she calls at 4 or 5 in the morning when she’s drunk. At that point, I just pretend to be asleep.”
Yoo Jae-suk
In a 2016 appearance on MBC’s Radio Star, Park Na-rae recalled receiving stern advice directly from Yoo Jae-suk. “He told me, ‘You’re doing well now, but drinking can lead to trouble and affect your work. I hope you can cut back,’” she said.

SBS’s Running Man saw Yoo Jae-suk mention that Park Na-rae was the most intoxicated person at the SBS Entertainment Awards after-party.
Yang Se-hyung
Comedian Yang Se-hyung further revealed on Shin Dong-yup’s Zzanbro that Park Na-rae would eat food with her hands and walk around barefoot when drunk. Park Na-rae herself admitted that she often woke up with bruises after a night of drinking.
Park Na-rae’s Family
The concerns, however, extended beyond colleagues. During an appearance on Channel A’s Oh Eun-young’s Golden Clinic, Park Na-rae’s mother expressed serious worry. She tearfully shared that her daughter’s drinking worsened her health and sometimes led to verbally aggressive behavior toward family members. “If she does that to others, it could really hurt someone,” her mother said.

These past anecdotes, once treated as harmless humor, are now being reevaluated in light of claims made by her former managers—allegations of forced drinking, verbal abuse, and even physical harm. Compounding the situation is the fact that I Live Alone previously received formal disciplinary action for repeatedly airing scenes that glamorized drinking.
On December 8, Park Na-rae officially announced she would suspend all broadcasting activities due to the mounting controversy. As a result, she is stepping down from MBC’s I Live Alone, Save Me! Holmes, and tvN’s Amazing Saturday.
