During the March 23 broadcast of Park Myung-soo‘s Radio Show on KBS Cool FM, Park Myung-soo laughed after receiving a listener’s message comparing BTS performing at Gwanghwamun to himself.

He responded, “It’s embarrassing to compare. The scale was completely different,” while recalling that his own radio show had held two public broadcasts at Gwanghwamun in the past. “We were somewhere between Admiral Yi Sun-sin and King Sejong. I hope we can do a third one,” he joked.

Park added, “It wasn’t on that level. There were about 2,000 to 3,000 people. There was no national promotion, but still a lot of people came. I’d love to try it again.”

He also mentioned his personal connection to BTS members, saying, “I have ties with Suga and Jin. Jin must have a ‘preservative face’ he’s incredibly handsome.”

Addressing the mixed reactions surrounding the BTS Gwanghwamun performance, Park Myung-soo said, “There are debates about whether it was a success or not, but think about how much it promoted the country. Gwanghwamun was broadcast to 196 countries around the world. That kind of impact cannot be measured with money. Only BTS can do something like that. I believe everyone congratulated them.”

Meanwhile, on March 21, BTS held their comeback concert BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE: ARIRANG at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul’s Jongno District. The event was streamed globally via Netflix, drawing massive international attention.
