Park Min-young donated 100 million won for cancer patients ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday “Positive influence”

According to Seoul Asan Hospital, on Feb 7th, Park Min-young donated 100 million won to this hospital’s cancer center for the treatment of cancer patients.

Park Min-young’s decision to donate to cancer patients was prompted by her portrayal of the character Kang Ji-won in the ongoing tvN Monday-Tuesday drama “Marry My Husband”.

In the drama, Kang Ji-won is a tragic character battling terminal cancer, who witnesses her husband’s infidelity with a friend. After confronting her husband and facing death, Kang Ji-won reincarnates 10 years back in time, planning revenge against her husband.

Park Min-young garnered attention by realistically depicting Kang Ji-won’s terminal cancer condition by losing 6kg and weighing down to 37kg. Through this process, she indirectly learned about the struggles cancer patients face and decided to donate a portion of her drama appearance fee to provide support for them.

Park Min-young has been actively engaged in charitable activities. In March 2022, she donated 100 million won to the Hope Bridge Disaster Relief Association to assist victims of wildfires in Uljin, Gyeongsangbuk-do and Samcheok, Gangwon. In March 2019, she also donated profits from merchandise sales to the animal protection organization “KARA”. Park Min-young, who raises a pet dog named Leon, is known to have a keen interest in animal rights issues.

Meanwhile, “Marry My Husband”, which has reached episode 12, has received praise for the performances of Park Min-young and other actors, and its satisfying revenge narrative has resonated with viewers, leading to the drama topping the ratings in its time slot. Starting with a rating of 5.2% in the first episode, the drama’s ratings have steadily increased with each episode, reaching a peak of 11.8% in episode 11. The popularity of the drama, coupled with Park Min-young’s warm-hearted charity work for vulnerable neighbors, has further highlighted her shining character.

Park Min-young debuted in the entertainment industry as a CF model in 2005 and began her acting career by appearing in the 2006 MBC sitcom “High Kick!”.
