According to Nielsen Korea on May 26, episode 5 of the tvN and TVING Monday-Tuesday drama The Legend of Kitchen Soldier recorded an average nationwide household rating of 7.9%, while ratings in the Seoul metropolitan area reached 8.8%.
The latest episode also marked an important milestone for the drama, as it overtook competing series Scarecrow for the first time in ratings.

While Scarecrow episode 11 recorded a nationwide rating of 7.4%, The Legend of Kitchen Soldier successfully surpassed it, signaling the growing popularity of the military-themed fantasy cooking drama.
Episode 5 followed protagonist Kang Sung Jae after completing his time at Gangrim Guard Post and returning home on reward leave.
Park Ji Hoon, who plays Kang Sung Jae, drew attention for his warm chemistry with actress Seo Jeong-yeon, who portrays his mother Gong Soo Yeon. The episode featured the two working together on a food truck, adding emotional depth and family warmth to the story.
