During a recent interview for TVING and tvN drama “The Legend of Kitchen Soldier,” Park Ji Hoon shared that he plans to enlist next year and challenge himself by applying for the Marine Corps reconnaissance unit.
He said: “Next year, I must enlist no matter what.” Park Ji Hoon added that joining the Marine Corps reconnaissance unit has been a long-time dream. Although he had previously mentioned wanting to apply for the Marines, this is the first time he has clearly revealed both the timing and direction of his enlistment.
Born in 1999, Park Ji Hoon is eligible to apply until next year under Marine Corps recruitment rules, which accept applicants aged 18 to 28. The reconnaissance unit is known as an elite special mission unit that requires a separate selection process, including strict physical tests. According to this year’s recruitment standards, only around 5 people have been selected per intake for the reconnaissance category.
Park Ji Hoon explained that he wants to gain valuable experience in one of the toughest places. He also emphasized that even if he fails the reconnaissance selection, he will still enlist in the Marine Corps as a regular soldier. His announcement has drawn attention because he is currently enjoying one of the strongest periods of his career.

His current drama “The Legend of Kitchen Soldier” is also performing strongly, ranking No.1 in paid subscriber contribution on TVING for 3 consecutive weeks and recording a peak rating of 9.6%.
In the drama, Park Ji Hoon plays Kang Sung Jae, a military cook. His emotional gaze and firm presence have been praised for leading the story’s tension and immersion.
