“Doctor Slump” is a romantic comedy about the stagnation of Yeo Jeong Woo (Park Hyung Sik) and Nam Ha Neul (Park Shin Hye) who are trying to revive their life. The process of the two rivals reuniting and helping each other through the darkest period of their lives promises laughter, excitement, and warm comfort for the viewers. How will the happiness of those who shared the highest of the highs and lowest of the lows be portrayed?
The drama series gathers a stellar cast, including Park Hyung Sik, Park Shin Hye, Yoon Park, and Gong Sung Ha. Reuniting 10 years after “The Heirs”, Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hye are drawing attention to how their chemistry will turn out as the leading couple. Director Oh Hyun Jong, who showed sensuous and delicate productions in “Find Me in Your Memory” and “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo,” and writer Baek Sun Woo, who boasted witty script writing through “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim”, will collaborate on the project.
Park Hyung Sik plays Yeo Jeong Woo, a star plastic surgeon who falls into the worst slump of his life after a mysterious medical accident. The days of being a top student having both skills and personality is behind him. Park Hyung Sik said, “I’m nervous and excited because it’s been a long time since I did a romantic comedy drama. I’m glad and looking forward to meeting and working with actor Park Shin Hye again after a long time. I think it will be a more interesting work because there are directors and writers whom we trust and see.” The actor concluded by saying, “I sincerely ask for your interest, love, and support.”
Park Shin Hye returns as Nam Ha Neul, an anesthesiologist with symptoms of burnout. A genius from birth, Nam Ha Neul has been crazy about studying and maintained that eccentricity even when she became a doctor. One day, when she looks back to her “no fun” life, she resolves by making a change in her present.
“Everyone seems to be facing a slump in their lives. I sympathize with the character Nam Ha Neul because I tend to think a lot about how to overcome those moments wisely and live a healthy life,” said Park Shin Hye, who showed a deep connection to her character.
“I will work hard to film so that I can comfort many people who are tired of life,” the actress promised.
Yoon Park plays Bin Dae Young, a plastic surgeon who also shows off his bravado. Dae Young has a complex relationship with Yeo Jeong Woo. He boasts a rivalry with Jeong Woo but is the only person who can understand him the best. Dae Young captivates attention for swinging between seriousness and carefreeness. In regards to this role, Yoon Park said, “I’m very excited to meet good directors and actors through the work. I will prepare well to make a fun drama.”
Gong Sung Ha plays Nam Ha Neul’s best friend and obstetric anesthesiologist Lee Hong Ran. They are friends from college days. Hong Ran has a strange relationship with Bin Dae Young, both of whom share a lot of traits. Talking about her role, Sung Ha expressed her gratitude and said “I am grateful and feel responsible for the role of Lee Hong Ran. I want to put all my heart into making good works with precious relationships with the bright energy of this character.”
