Park Bom Once Topped Music Charts With The Song That Was Almost Given To 2NE1

Ahead of Park Bom’s comeback, let’s look back on the release of her single “Spring” 4 years ago

In March 2019, Park Bom released the single “Spring”. This single marked her solo comeback after 8 years since 2011 and her new start after 2NE1 disbanded in 2016.

At her comeback showcase to commemorate the release of “Spring”, Park Bom also expressed her feelings, saying “I couldn’t sleep last night because I was so nervous and excited. I wonder if this is true”, adding “I tried not to lose my sense by watching many music programs and listening to new songs”.

She made the track “Spring (Bom)”, a song named after her, as the title song. In particular, 2NE1 member Sandara Park also featured in this song for the rap part. However, at the showcase, it was Eunji of Brave Girls who performed the rap instead of Sandara Park.

When asked about Sandara Park’s featuring part, Park Bom shared, “I made a love call to her”. She added, “She also sent me a text, saying ‘Don’t tremble and show them what you got!’”, and expressed gratitude towards her bandmate.

Written and composed by Brave Brothers, “Spring” is a pop track that combines groovy beats with sorrowful sensibility. It becomes more appealing when performed by Park Bom’s unique voice. As soon as the song was released, it topped major music charts and received huge love from the public. After Park Bom made her comeback, the producer of “Spring” revealed that this song was supposed to belong to 2NE1.

In an interview, Brave Brothers said, “2NE1 members even recorded a song with the piano line of ‘Spring’ around 2007. I had never given that piano line to anyone else for 12 years and it eventually returned to Bom like fate. I feel so touched”.

Apart from “Spring”, the single also has two more songs, including “My Lover”, a track that stands out with its sad vibe, and “Shameful” with a rhythmic beat and diverse sounds. Brave Brothers was in charge of composing and writing the whole single and the b-side tracks are both as complete and addictive as the title song.

Regarding the experience of working with Park Bom, Brave Brothers confessed, “I’m glad that nothing has changed, from her emotions, voice, and singing skills even after a long time”.

Park Bom also shared, “I prepared for this comeback by trying to convey my sincere heart through the songs”. Since the release of “Spring”, she has continued doing music activities and released various songs during the past four years, including “4:44”, “The First Snow”, “Do Re Mi Fa Sol” and “FLOWER”.

In 2023, Park Bom sang the song “Holding On The End Of This Night” through a remake project and showcased her amazing voice again. On November 22nd, she will release the new song “I”
