Actor Park Bo-gum is earning praise for his heartwarming real-life kindness, reminiscent of his character Yang Gwan-sik in the Netflix series When Life Gives You Tangerines.
Unexpected Gifts To to Young Fan
On April 17, veteran actor Jung Eun-pyo shared a touching story via his personal social media. In the post, he wrote, “There are many reasons why the drama is so beloved, but I believe Park Bo-gum’s acting plays a big part.”

Jung went on to share a surprising anecdote involving his daughter, Ha-eun: “When Ha-eun was in elementary school, she once mentioned on a TV show that she liked Park Bo-gum. Months after the broadcast, a box arrived at our home containing the Love in the Moonlight DVD, a signed photo card, and a handwritten letter from Park Bo-gum.”
He added, “We’ve never even met him. He must’ve seen the show and made inquiries to find our address. I was so touched by his warm gesture, and his handwriting was just as beautiful as his heart.“
The post also included a photo of the gift, which featured Bo-gum’s personal note to Ha-eun, “I used to watch Bungeoppang [a children’s show], and to think that the cute little girl from there is now cheering me on, it warms my heart. I’m sending this card as a thank you. I hope you grow up healthy and wise.”
Actor’s Wife Admiration for Bo-gum’s Role in the Drama
Jung Eun-pyo then playfully commented on his wife’s admiration for Bo-gum’s role in When Life Gives You Tangerines, saying, “She kept praising Yang Gwan-sik, so I asked, ‘What kind of husband is that good?’ She went on to praise Park Bo-gum and the character… I was planning to watch the drama, but now I’m feeling a little jealous!” He jokingly added, “Bo-gum is great, but I’m afraid Yang Gwan-sik might actually be a better husband than me.”

Fans were moved by Bo-gum’s gesture, noting that his gentle and sincere personality off-screen seems to mirror the devoted husband he portrays in the series.
In When Life Gives You Tangerines, Park Bo-gum stars as Yang Gwan-sik, the loyal and endlessly supportive husband of IU’s character Ae-soon, charting their life together across the four seasons of Jeju Island. His chemistry with IU and his nuanced performance have both received widespread acclaim.
