A female streamer has sparked intense online debate after a mysterious man appeared on her live stream, prompting speculation and backlash from fans. While some viewers believe the man is her boyfriend, the streamer insists he is a stalker, a claim that has divided the internet.
Man Suddenly Appears During Livestream
On April 16, communities like FM Korea and Ppomppu buzzed with posts titled “Male Caught on Stream with SOOP (formerly AfreecaTV) Female Streamer”, referring to the moment when a man suddenly entered the room during a late-night livestream. In the video, the man opened the door, hugged the streamer from behind, and the stream abruptly switched to a standby screen.

Shortly afterward, the streamer returned to the chat to say, “That man is a stalker. I’m going to report him to the police and sort this out.”
However, some skeptical male fans questioned the story. As mocking comments poured in, “The best excuse you could come up with is ‘he’s a stalker’?” The streamer held a follow-up broadcast to explain.
Unexpected Explanation and Netizens’ Reactions
She claimed the man was her ex-boyfriend, whom she had briefly dated from March to May last year. During their relationship, he knew her digital lock code, and she never changed it after their breakup. “He was obsessed after the breakup,” she explained. “That night, he entered my place unannounced. The mic was off, so you couldn’t hear, but I was resisting and screaming.”
She also stated that she received an apology from the man and decided not to pursue legal action, calling it a “private matter.” Despite the explanation, many viewers remained unconvinced, leaving comments like:
- “You think people will actually believe that?”
- “If this were a corporation, shareholders would be coming after her,”
- “Even taking a break on Christmas causes fans to leave.”
In Korea’s streaming culture, female streamers rarely reveal their romantic partners, as doing so can damage fan loyalty and lead to a dramatic drop in viewer donations. Many streamers rely on strong parasocial bonds with their mostly male fanbase, and once the illusion of availability is broken, the financial impact can be severe.
Some popular streamers have even experienced fanbase collapses and plummeting star balloon (donation) income after their relationships were exposed. The incident serves as a reminder of how precarious the balance between personal life and business can be in the live-streaming world.
