It is revealed that Ariel initially had a different design in the live-action version.
“The Little Mermaid” live-action by Disney retells the story of Ariel and her dream to walk on land. From before to after the movie hit theaters worldwide, Ariel’s live-action character design has been drawing attention. However, a recently unveiled image reportedly is changing viewers’ perspectives.
On social media, the concept artist behind Ariel, Christian Cordella, released the first draft of Ariel. This concept was how the mermaid was originally supposed to look like, but was not chosen. In this design, she wears her hair in long tresses instead of dreadlocks in the official version. Her whole body is also covered in beads.
Netizens instantly fell in love with the first design and believed the movie would have been more accepted if this design had been chosen to be the final version.
After two weeks of release, “The Little Mermaid” live-action has only recorded 350 million USD in the domestic box office. This is the first-day figure recorded by “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts”.
