aespa members revealed some behind-the-scenes stories about their comeback with the song “Spicy” on “Knowing Bros”.
The June 10th broadcast of JTBC’s entertainment program “Knowing Bros” featured aespa members Karina, Winter and NingNing as guests. aespa recently made their comeback with the third mini album “MY WORLD” and swept various domestic and global music charts.
As soon as aespa showed up, Kang Ho Dong asked, “What kind acts have you done so far in your lives?”. Winter replied, “I’m doing it right now”, referring to her appearance on “Knowing Bros”. Upon hearing that, Kim Hee Chul wondered, “The three of you are joining us, so you guys are good girls. Then Giselle is a bad girl because she didn’t come?”. Karina then explained, “Giselle couldn’t come because she is not feeling well”, revealing the reason for Giselle’s absence.
Kim Hee Chul pointed to Lee Jin Ho and said, “He came to see Giselle”. Lee Jin Ho jokingly added, “Only the girls I don’t like are here. I only like Giselle”. In response, Karina angrily said, “I like Lee Yong Jin more”, and Winter commented, “We’re sorry. We’ll go home now”. Hearing that, Kang Ho Dong told Lee Jin Ho, “Don’t use SNS for the time being, or else, you would get cursed at in various languages.”
In the meantime, aespa was revealed to have set a new record of achieving 1.8 million pre-orders for their third mini album. Lee Sang Min asked, “You had a long hiatus before this comeback. Did you feel any sense of crisis because of that?”. Winter responded, “Rather than feeling anxious, we just wanted to quickly show ourselves to fans and perform”. Karina added, “Our album had been changed four times before its release”. Winter explained, “We recorded many other songs four times. In the end, we were able to make our comeback with ‘Spicy’”, surprising everyone.
Regarding winning No.1 on music shows with “Spicy”, Karina said, “We heard the news of us winning first place during the recording of another music show. We were really happy”. When Lee Jin Ho asked, “Did you search for it like 10 times a day?”, Karina replied, “To be honest, I tried it. I kept refreshing the page”.
Kang Ho Dong said, “Every member has a separate chorus part in ‘Spicy’. But you sang them in different tones, right?”. Karina made a demonstration, but when everyone looked at her, she felt burdened. Karina said, “I forgot the lyrics. I get nervous when everyone pays attention to me. Please don’t look at me”, drawing laughter.
