First appearing on the survival show Produce 48 and debuting as the center of IZ*ONE, Jang Wonyoung was noticed by many because of her beautiful appearance, luxurious aura, and outstanding height. Since then, she has been dubbed “the new generation visual goddess” by fans.

After IZ*ONE disbanded, Jang Wonyoung has been focusing more on individual activities. She takes on the MC role for Music Bank and models for many fashion and beauty brands. In December 2021, she re-debuted with IVE, a rookie girl group under the management of Starship Entertainment. In less than a month after her debut in IVE, Jang Wonyoung continuously became the talk of the town for her disrespectful attitude towards her seniors and colleagues at music shows.

One of Jang Wonyoung‘s first controversies was her being accused of disrespecting her seniors on the Music Core stage on December 18, 2021. Netizens were furious at IVE’s members because they didn’t bow to their seniors including Jaemin (NCT), Lee Know (Stray Kids), and Kim Minju (IZ*ONE) during the encore stage for ELEVEN. Wonyoung and Yujin received the most criticism because they were expected to know better given the fact that they already debuted with IZ*ONE before.

On Inkigayo, IVE was also said to not greet their seniors properly because they were emotional about winning No.1. Wonyoung was also accused of glaring at TWICE’s Jeongyeon and showing an attitude towards NCT 127 during her MC segments on Music Bank.

Overcoming the controversies, Jang Wonyoung has now won fans’ hearts with her polite actions. At the Asia Artist Awards 2021, when she was sitting in the front row and a senior passed by, she bowed 90 degrees to greet them. Or at the encore stages in IVE’s latest comeback with ‘Love Dive’, she also showed a more respectful attitude towards her seniors.

During a video call with fans, Wonyoung also warms netizens’ hearts as she expressed how sincere she was by attentively listening to her fans’ stories. Wonyoung even burst into tears when a fan opened up to her that she was the joy and motivation for them to overcome their stressful life. Wonyoung also showed her concern, constantly looking worried when she heard that a fan was sick. These kind and caring actions have given netizens a chance to see more of her good side.
