7 years after the success of “Oh My Ghost”, the cast actors of this drama have all gained remarkable achievements in their acting career.
Telling about the romance of head chef Kang Sun Woo and assistant chef Na Bong Sun, who can see ghosts, “Oh My Ghost” was once a hit drama in 2015 with a splendid cast.
It’s been 7 years since “Oh My Ghost” was released, let’s take a look at how the cast of this drama have changed and what achievements have they earned throughout the past years and especially in 2021!
1. Jo Jung Suk
Jo Jung Suk played the role of the handsome head chef Kang Sun Woo, who has a warm personality hidden behind his arrogant appearance. After the success of “Oh My Ghost”, Jo Jung Suk is the most mentioned name in hot topics.
Although this 1980-born actor had played the main characters in various projects, it was not until the broadcast of “Oh My Ghost” that Jo Jung Suk was in the talk of the town.
After “Oh My Ghost” ended, Jo Jung Suk immediately received calls from many famous screenwriters as they all wanted them to act in their dramas. In 2016, he was cast for the main character in “Jealousy Incarnate” and formed a couple with one of the top goddesses of the Korean film industry Gong Hyo Jin.
Apart from dramas, he also appeared in various successful movies, such as “My Annoying Brother” (2016), “The Drug King” (2018), and “Exit” (2019). His most recent work is the hot drama “Hospital Playlist”, which ended last year.
Not only did Jo Jung Suk succeed in his acting career, he also achieved a big result in his life as he had a sweet wedding with his long-time girlfriend, singer Gummy. They got married in 2018 and had a daughter 2 years later.
Until now, Jo Jung Suk seems to be the most successful actor among “Oh My Ghost” cast members.
2. Park Bo Young
Taking on a lead role for the first time through “Oh My Ghost”, Park Bo Young didn’t let the viewers down as she showed such a great performance portraying the character Na Bong Soon, a girl who can see ghosts.
Although Park Bo Young was cast for only one role, she had to perform 2 different personalities of her character at the same time. Na Bong Sun is originally a weak girl but becomes a mischievous one when her body is controlled by the spirit of Shin Soon Ae. In fact, Park Bo Young’s acting was one of the factors that contributed to the big success of “Oh My Ghost”.
After “Oh My Ghost”, Par Bo Young also became one of the actors that were “most hunted” by drama producers. No one can resist the charms of this little girl. As her popularity was on a rise, Park Bo Young proved her solid acting skills through more projects, such as “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” (2017), “Abyss” (2019), and the box office hit “On Your Wedding Day” (2018).
Returning with “Doom At Your Service” in 2021, it was a bit regrettable that this drama was not as successful as her previous works.
However, we could all notice Park Bo Young’s great improvement after “Oh My Ghost”. One of the most admirable things about this actress is she has always tried to challenge herself with different roles and stories.
3. Kim Seul Gi
Playing Shin Soon-Ae, Kim Seu-gi’s acting was also well-received by the audiences and critics. Despite not having an outstanding visual, this 1991-born actress owns such unique acting. This helped Kim Seul Gi receive so much love from the viewers.
After “Oh My Ghost”, Kim Seul Gi continued to leave a great impression with her debut movie “Splash Splash Love”. Moreover, she was also cast for the female lead role in the famous drama “Queen Of The Ring” released in 2017.
Although Kim Seul Gi hasn’t had any chance to play the lead role after “Queen Of The Ring”, she is still actively participating in numerous projects, such as “The Guardians” (2017), “Jesters: The Game Changers” (2019), “Find Me In Your Memory” (2020), etc. With each character she played, Kim Seul Gi always gained favorable reviews from the viewers.
4. Im Ju Hwan
Im Ju Hwan seems to be unable to move past playing supporting male characters. After taking on the role of a police officer who is both pitiful and blameworthy in Oh My Ghost, Im Ju Hwan has continued to transform into supporting characters in other dramas such as Uncontrollably Fond in 2016, The Bride Of Habaek in 2017, The Spy Who Loved Me in 2020.
Although Im Ju Hwan has not experienced a big growth in his acting career after Oh My Ghost and it seems that he is still staying in his comfort zone with supporting roles, he is still drawing sympathy from viewers for his hard work.
Hopefully Im Ju Hwan will get cast in roles with more screen time to boast his talent in the future.
5. Kwak Si Yang
Playing the adorable chef assistant Seo Joon in Oh My Ghost, Kwak Si Yang became one of the most popular K-drama supporting male leads around that time. Thanks to his handsome visuals and impressive height, he attracted more fans after the drama.
Wanting to step out of his comfort zone and not to be framed in a warm, nice guy trope, Kwak Si Yang decided to take on villainous roles after Oh My Ghost ended.
He played a bad guy in Familyhood in 2016, a murderer in the 2018 thriller film The Witness, and most recently the main antagonist in last year’s historical drama Lovers Of The Red Sky.
The change of Kwak Si Yang’s image is both surprising and exciting. Although his appearance seems to suit good-natured and soft characters well, Kwak Si Yang enjoys playing characters giving off totally opposite vibes.
Kwak Si Yang has earned a certain place in the hearts of the viewers, and over the years, Seo Joon of Oh My Ghost remains his most heart-fluttering character.
6. Shin Hye Sun
Shin Hye Sun is the actress with the biggest breakthrough among the cast members of Oh My Ghost. Only taking on a small role in Oh My Ghost, few viewers would have expected that Shin Hye Sun would become one of the most outstanding actresses of Korea’s entertainment industry today.
After Oh My Ghost, Shin Hye Sun drew more attention when she starred in KBS2’s long-running drama – The Golden Life in 2017.
Thanks to the success of her role in The Golden Life, Shin Hye Sun then received offers to join the cast of big projects as the female lead.
Specifically, she left a good impression in Still 17, Hymn Of Death in 2018, Angel’s Last Mission in 2019, Innocent in 2020.
Notably, at the end of 2020 and early 2021, Shin Hye Sun landed her most successful leading role of her career in Mr. Queen. The actress captivates the viewers with her top-notch acting and charm.
Although there were controversies surrounding the plot of Mr.7 years after the success of “Oh My Ghost”, the cast actors of this drama have all gained remarkable achievements in their acting career. Queen, the talent and charisma of Shin Hye Sun is undeniable. Hopefully, she will greet the audience in another great project in the near future.
