It all began with the news of the “Lee Young-ae Talk Show.” On February 5th, KBS announced that discussions were underway regarding the scheduling of a talk show hosted by Lee Young-ae.
In response to reports, KBS stated, “It is true that discussions are ongoing with Lee Young-ae and the planning team, but other details are yet to be determined. It is not a follow-up program to ‘The Seasons – Lee Hyori’s Red Carpet.'”
If ‘Lee Young-ae Talk Show’ comes to fruition, it will mark Lee Young-ae’s first solo appearance as an MC since her debut as an actress in 1990. It represents a new challenge for Lee Young-ae as she has primarily walked the path of an actress.
On the same day, another report emerged in the drama realm. Ut has been announced that Lee Young-ae was cast as the lead in the new historical drama ‘The Righteous Woman, Dae Jang Geum.’
This news prompted a response from Kim Young-hyun, the writer of MBC’s iconic drama ‘Dae Jang Geum,’ stating that there is no connection between the two projects.
The production company clarified, “‘The Righteous Woman, Dae Jang Geum (working title),’ reportedly in production, has no relation to Kim Young-hyun, and he learned about it through media reports. ‘Dae Jang Geum,’ which aired in 2003, is an original creation by Kim Young-hyun. He holds all rights to the content of the script as the original author, including the setting of major characters, relationships between characters, the development of events, and episodes.“
Furthermore, they emphasized, “There is no connection whatsoever between the setting, content, characters, etc., of ‘Dae Jang Geum’ and this drama. It is an entirely different drama, not a spin-off, sequel, or prequel based on ‘Dae Jang Geum.’ We sincerely request understanding to avoid any misunderstandings on this matter.”
Lee Young-ae has solidified her position as a representative Hallyu star since her debut. Even in 2024, news related to her remains hot and noteworthy.
