Not BTS or BLACKPINK, The Richest K-pop Singer is Actually “This Person”?

A report from TenAsia stated that JYP Entertainment founder Park Jin-young is actually the richest K-pop singer. 

According to a report from TenAsia, Park Jin-young (also known as JYP or J.Y.Park), the founder of JYP Entertainment, is identified as the richest K-pop singer.

In particular, according to JYP Entertainment’s 2023 business report, Park Jin-young owns 5,402,311 shares of JYP, which, as of April 3, has an estimated asset value of 385.2 billion won (286 million USD). On that day, JYP’s trading price per share was 71,300 won, but JYP’s stock price is known to have surged to over 110,000 won per share last year.

With a significant amount of shares, Park Jin-young ranks first among the wealthiest Korean singers. 

Park Jin-young has been actively meeting fans on stage as an active artist since his debut in 1992, in addition to his role as the founder of JYP.

Park Jin-young is also active as a songwriter and producer. He is well known as one of the best producers in Korea, having discovered and produced groups such as g.o.d, 2PM, Wonder Girls, Miss A, TWICE, and ITZY. He also topped the domestic copyright revenue charts from 2012 to 2014.

However, if excluding active singers and considering those in the K-pop entertainment industry as a whole, the wealthiest is Bang Si-hyuk, the chairman of Big Hit Music and HYBE Labels. He is estimated to have a share value of over 3 trillion won (approx 2.2 billion USD).

Meanwhile, the richest singer worldwide is Taylor Swift, whose assets total to approx 1.1 billion USD.
