Once one of Hong Kong’s most admired TVB actors, Ngai Chun Kit has lived through a tragic fall from grace that feels like a drama script of its own. The man once adored for his roles in Detective Investigation Files, Armed Reaction, and The Legendary Four Aces has now become a cautionary tale in showbiz.
It was his breakout role as Ching Fung in Armed Reaction that shot him to A-list fame overnight. At the height of his career, he was one of the most sought-after names in Hong Kong’s film and advertising industries.

The hit series also introduced him to actress Tang Lai Ming, and the two quickly became one of TVB’s most beloved couples. After nine years together, fans were convinced they would marry until 2007, when the couple announced their shocking breakup.
Not long after, Ngai was photographed holding hands with Cheung Lei Wah, a college student 20 years his junior. The revelation shattered his “loyal gentleman” image. It was soon discovered that Ngai had ended his long relationship with Tang Lai Ming to pursue the younger woman. Public opinion turned on him instantly, branding him a “bad boy” and “unfaithful man” in Hong Kong entertainment.

Despite harsh criticism, Ngai went ahead and married Cheung Lei Wah. But fate had other plans. What he thought was love turned into a nightmare that ruined both his reputation and finances.
In 2017, Hong Kong tabloids exposed Cheung Lei Wah’s affair with professional cyclist Tang Wang Yip, sparking a massive scandal. Reports claimed she had mocked Ngai behind his back, calling him “washed-up” and “too poor to give her a luxurious life.” Although deeply humiliated, Ngai forgave her for the sake of their daughter, determined to keep the family together.

Trying to win her back, Ngai spent nearly all his savings on a $2 million villa and opened a Thai restaurant for her to manage. Yet, his generosity couldn’t save the marriage. In early 2020, photos surfaced showing Cheung Lei Wah spending the night at another man’s home a wealthy Japanese pastry chef said to earn about $2.5 million per month.
When paparazzi confronted Ngai with the photos, he was stunned and speechless. Within days, Cheung packed her belongings and moved out. After five years of separation, Ngai finally filed for divorce, taking custody of their daughter.

To escape gossip and shield his child from media scrutiny, Ngai sold his home and quietly left Hong Kong. He later revealed that he would remain single to focus on raising his daughter.
Years of emotional trauma, betrayal, and financial stress took their toll. The former TVB heartthrob developed severe depression and was once reported to have suicidal thoughts. Since 2021, he has been undergoing therapy and taking medication to stabilize his emotions.

Now living in a small rented apartment, Ngai’s modest life starkly contrasts his ex-wife’s jet-setting lifestyle, filled with luxury trips and social media posts. His health has also visibly declined he has gained significant weight, his once-charming appearance replaced by exhaustion.
The story of Ngai Chun Kit is more than a fallen-celebrity scandal it’s a heartbreaking portrait of how fame, betrayal, and personal choices can destroy even the brightest star in showbiz.
