NewJeans swept No.1 even on the Melon Chart, becoming the first idol group debuted this year to achieve this

Girl group NewJeans (Min-ji, Hanni, Danielle, Hae-rin and Hye-in) topped the Melon Real-time Chart, dominating both digital and physical music charts.

NewJeans’s debut song “Attention” rose to No.1 on Melon Real-time Chart at 11 p.m on August 9th. As of 2 p.m on August 10th, it is still peaking. Among K-pop groups that debuted this year, NewJeans is the only group to top the Melon Real-time Chart.

On August 9th, NewJeans’s first debut title track “Attention ranked #3 on Melon Daily Chart, one notch up from that of the previous day, the second and third title tracks “Hype Boy and “Cookie” charted #11 and #49, respectively.

NewJeans’s songs entered Melon Daily Chart on August 2nd, one day after their release, setting a new fastest record among girl group debut songs released over the past three years.

On the 9th, all four tracks of their debut album, including “Attention, “Hype Boy”, “Cookie” and “Hurt”, were listed on Bugs Daily Chart. In particular, “Attention” and “Hype Boy” secured their 1st and 2nd places for two consecutive days, while “Cookie” and “Hurt” ranked 10th and 17th, respectively, certifying the popularity of all four songs.

NewJeans also proved their heat on the chart of Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming company. “Attention” and “Hype Boy” ranked #1 and #2 in Spotify Korea’s Daily Top Song for eight days in a row, while “Cookie” and “Hurt” were also found ranking 3rd and 6th in this chart on August 9th.

In addition, NewJeans entered the U.S Billboard Chart only eight days after the release of their album. Their debut song “Attention” charted 174th on the latest Billboard Global Excl. U.S. released on August 9th (local time).

NewJeans’s debut album “New Jeans” sold 262,815 copies on the day of its physical release, rising to #1 on Hanteo’s Daily Album Chart on August 8th, setting a new first-day sales record for idol groups’ debut albums since September 2019.
